Overview

Symbiosis Institute of Technology, Pune (SIT Pune) a constituent of Symbiosis International (Deemed University) was established in 2008 and currently offers B.Tech. programmes in Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning and Robotics & Automation and M.Tech. programmes in Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning, Robotics & Automation and Embedded Systems. Research programmes leading to Ph. D. Degree were introduced in Faculty of Engineering of Symbiosis International University in 2010.

SIT Pune endeavors to provide quality technical education in line with the requirements of the competitive industry and fast paced technological developments, and the curriculum is developed to lay stress both on basics and latest developments. The institute boasts a highly qualified and competent faculty and high-quality infrastructure to ensure proper education of students.

Campus

Infrastructure created and acquired by the Institute, like all other Symbiosis Institutes, is of a very high quality and includes multimedia classrooms, well equipped labs including software for CAD/CAM, simulations and other applications, well stocked modern library with digital media, auditorium, seminar halls, separate hostels for boys & girls and playgrounds.

The Institute provides on environment conducive for harnessing the potential of both faculty and students through systematic and effective planning and control of the teaching learning process, both within and outside the classroom. The basic teaching learning process is supplemented by organizing tech-fests, cultural programmes, sports competitions, industry-institute meets, guest lectures by renowned personalities and student exchange programmes with foreign universities.

Hostel facilities are provided to ensure proper accommodation of students, and the institute provides a vast range of co-curricular and sports facilities including gym facilities and grounds and courts for basketball, volleyball, swimming, cricket, football and lawn tennis and facilities for indoor games like table tennis, badminton, squash on the Hill Top and Hill Base Campus.

Placements:

The SIT Pune placement and training cell is well-organised, being equipped with a seminar hall for conducting pre-placement talks, discussion rooms, interview rooms and other necessary amenities. The cell has good associations with a large number of renowned companies who visit the institute for campus recruitments. All the students of the final year are prepared for campus interviews through special programmes on technical and soft skills, which would help them get prestigious jobs. SIT had a successful placement season with the participation of leading companies across sectors, offering coveted profiles to the students of B.Tech. and M.Tech. Leading companies from a multitude of sectors participated in the final placements offering ‘sought-after’ profiles with competitive packages. The recruiter portfolio comprised a healthy mix of recruiters from IT sectors and fast-growing start-ups. Further, few students, with their exceptional effort during their internships and reputed corporate competitions were awarded PPOs (pre-placement offers) by highly coveted companies.

Recent placement highlights- 2020: Several reputed companies participated in the 2020 placement drive, including Microsoft, Google, IBM, Bookmyshow, Siemens PLM, HDFC Bank, Hitachi and Vodafone India Services Pvt Ltd. International companies like SOU Japan, Crowdworks, Japan and Yahoo, Japan were also part of the 2020 placement drive. The 2019-20 placement percentage was recorded at 90%, with the highest national CTC being INR 30 LPA and highest international CTC being INR 31 LPA.

Admission

Undergraduate Admission- B.Tech.

Selection Criteria: SIT EEE/JEE Main/State Government engineering entrance exam score/rank

Eligibility: 10+2 with PCM/B from a recognised board with a minimum aggregate of 45% marks. 

Admission Procedure:

• Candidates must register for admission by applying online from the official SIT Pune website along with the submission of required documents and payment of application fees.
• Candidates must apply and appear for either of the following entrances: SIT EEE, JEE Main or State Government engineering entrances.
• Candidates shortlisted based on marks/ranks obtained in the entrances will then have to participate in the university-level counselling process.
• Selected candidates may proceed with the verification of documents and payment of fees to confirm their admission.

Postgraduate Admission- M.Tech.

Selection Criteria: GATE/SIT entrance exam scores/ranks.

Eligibility: B.Tech./B.E. degree in relevant specialization from a recognised university with a minimum aggregate of 50% marks.  

Admission Procedure:

• Candidates must register for admission by applying online from the official SIT Pune website along with the submission of required documents and payment of application fees.
• Candidates must apply and appear for either of the following entrances: GATE or SIT entrance exam.
• Candidates shortlisted based on marks/ranks obtained in the entrances will then have to participate in the university-level open counselling process.
• Selected candidates may proceed with the verification of documents and payment of fees to confirm their admission.

Doctoral Admission- Ph.D.

Selection Criteria: University-conducted Ph.D. entrance test (PET) and personal interview (PI).

Eligibility: Master’s/B.Tech./B.E. degree in relevant specialisation from a recognised university with a minimum aggregate of 50% marks.

Admission Procedure:

• Candidates must register for admission by applying online from the official SIT Pune website along with the submission of required documents and payment of application fees.
• Candidates must appear for the Ph.D. entrance test (PET) conducted by the university.
• Candidates will be shortlisted based on marks obtained in the PET, who will then qualify for the personal interview (PI) round.
• Candidates with NET/SET/SLET/GATE/JRF/M. Phil qualifications or UGC/CSIR/ICMR DBT/RGNF/MANF/DST Inspire & NBHM Fellowships can directly appear for the PI round.
• Candidates will be selected on the basis of their PET score/alternate qualification or fellowships, performance in PI and overall academic merit. Candidates may proceed with the verification of documents and payment of fees to confirm their admission.

Fees:

B.Tech. – INR 6.75 – 10.6 lakhs

M.Tech. – INR 3.9 – 5.4 lakhs

Accommodation

The institute offers two hostels for female students 1.5 km away from the Viman Nagar campus. Dining hall, hot water supply, generator backup, round the clock security and housekeeping as well as laundry services are provided at the hostels. Boys hostel at Sakore Nagar is just 200 meters away from the campus. It is compulsory for all the first year female students to avail the hostel facility.
