Promoted and managed by the Narayani Group of Educational Institutions, a non-profit charitable trust, Sharanya Narayani International School, Bengaluru (SNIS, estb. 2015) is a co-educational K-12 day-cum-boarding school that offers students a choice of the globally acclaimed International Baccalaureate and Cambridge IGCSE curriculums. Named after Late Narayani Abbaiah Reddy, the family matriarch of the trustees, the school aspires to “nurture students into successful, responsible and ethical leaders who can brighten the world with compassion, curiosity and creative fire.”
SNIS distinguishes itself with its “Thinking School” philosophy that enables students to hone their critical thinking and analytical skills. The school focuses on teaching students “how to think” rather than “what to think.”
Sprawled over an expansive 60 acres of meticulously landscaped greenery, the SNIS campus hosts world class facilities for academics, sports and co-curricular education and safe and secure residential facilities for students.
The school’s 50 classrooms are equipped with ICT teaching-learning facilities and seven well-equipped labs — four science labs, a computer lab, a design lab and a robotics lab — facilitate hands-on learning for students.
SNIS hosts impressive infrastructure for sports such as golf, cricket, basketball, football, swimming, lawn tennis, badminton, table tennis, gymnasium, jungle gym, sand volleyball, athletics, chess and carrom and co-curricular activities such as dance, music – vocal and instrumental, photography
Model United Nations, TEDxYouth, debate, visual art, drama, dance, pottery and woodcraft.
SNIS offers the Primary Years Program, Middle Years Program and Diploma Program of the Geneva based International Baccalaureate (IB) as well as the IGCSE curriculum of Cambridge International (UK).
The school promotes self-learning through a multi-skill, learner-centred, and activity-based approach which nurtures the uniqueness of every learner. With an excellent teacher-student ratio of 1:5, students are at the centre of SNIS’ teaching and learning process which is primarily inquiry-based so as to create independent learners who can work collaboratively and leverage their educational experiences to contribute positively to the society.
Moreover, as a ‘Thinking School’, it helps students to explore concepts, ideas, and issues that are of local and global significance.
Committed to the continuous professional development of its 60 teachers, SNIS facilitates in-school and high-quality international professional development programmes to equip them with the best teaching-learning strategies. Teacher training is conducted on an ongoing basis every week and also during the beginning of each semester. SNIS teachers receive 30 days of training (on an average) during an academic year.
