Over 4 lakh students in Delhi switched from private to govt schools: Atishi

August 26, 2023

Education Minister Atishi revealed on Friday that Delhi holds a unique distinction in the country – it’s the only state where a substantial number of children are transitioning from private schools to government schools. More than 400,000 students have made this shift in the past few years, she informed.

Speaking at the inauguration of a new branch of the BR Ambedkar School of Specialised Excellence (ASoSE) situated in Kohat Enclave, Pitampura, Atishi expressed her belief that this fresh addition to the educational landscape will serve as a catalyst for students to enhance their efforts.

She went on to encourage students to fully utilize the available facilities at the new ASoSE branch.

When discussing the Delhi government’s endeavors to enhance government schools, Atishi stated, “Our government schools have undergone significant improvements, and students now take pride in them.”

“During the recent years, more than 400,000 students have migrated to our schools. Delhi stands alone in the country as the state where children are opting to transition from private schools to government schools,” the minister underscored.

According to information from the Delhi government, the Kohat Enclave ASoSE will cater to children from various regions including Pitampura, Anandvas Resettlement Colony, Mongolpuri, Sultanpuri, and selected areas in Rohini.

This four-story school encompasses an array of amenities including 50 classrooms, 9 laboratories, 2 libraries, administrative offices, faculty rooms, activity spaces, sports facilities, and an elevator.
